General Contractors and Sub-ContractorsAny general contractor or sub-contractor must obtain a City business license to conduct business within the City of Vestavia Hills. The card holder is required to be present to obtain a City business license. Employees or representatives will not be issued a City business license. HomeownersHomeowners are not required to obtain a City business license and may act as their own general contractor, however, any person performing work for an individual must obtain a sub-contractor’s City business license. All homeowners acting as their own general contractor performing work over $10,000 are required to sign a Home Builder License Exemption Form. This form must be signed by the homeowner and notarized.
